I am looking at a 40" round tabletop; about 5/4 board thickness. what diameter for twisted tulipe base?

For standard dining height, I would recommend 20" W. That would taper in to be about 15" W at the top, so if your top requires more support than the 15" ring, we could either customize the base more to have a larger top ring, or you could go with a 24" W base, which would make the top closer to 20".
